Moto X 2014 - XT1095 - LOS 16, GMAIL app does not download content

Gapps : open_gapps-arm-9.0-pico-20200117.zip

ISSUE : GMAIL app downloads email header but not the content.

What I have tried so far:

1. Reformat, clean Dalvik, Cache and System partitions and reinstall LOS, GAPPS and Gmail app.
2. Clear GMAIL app cache, storage multiple times.

When I do a clean install, gmail works normally for few days and then stops downloading email content.
